POSITION SUMMARY:

This position, reporting to the Accounting Manager, will be key in the month-end close process and preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations.  An ideal candidate will have experience in a corporate and/or government contracting environment.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: 

Please list by order of priority and, if possible, provide the percentage of time spent on the activity all should equal 100%.

• Adhere to tight general ledger month-end close process
• Record monthly journal entries accurately
• Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts in compliance with a strict deadline
• Support audit efforts (e.g., external, internal and compliance)
• Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes
• Assist with internal control evaluations to include modifying and documenting accounting control procedures
• Performs other duties, assignments, and special projects as required
• MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
• Personal computer, printer, fax machine, copier and other general office equipment.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business is required
- Minimum of one year of accounting experience

Experience:

• Proven ability and desire to adhere to deadlines in the month-end close process
• Experienced and skilled in balance sheet reconciliations
• Knowledge of US GAAP
• Experience in a corporate environment or government contracting industry preferred
• Systems experience with Infinium, JAMIS, Global Software a plus

Skills:

• General PC skills and Microsoft Office required
• Intermediate Excel skills required - ability to create formulas (including V-lookups a plus) and proficient in financial/accounting systems
