Full-time General Accountant required in USA

Job Summary

     Check figures, postings, and documents for accuracy. Organize, secure, and maintain all files, records, cash and cash equivalents in accordance with policies and procedures. Record, store, access, and/or analyze computerized financial information. Classify, code, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals, ledgers, and/or computers. Prepare, maintain, audit, and distribute statistical, financial, accounting, auditing, or payroll reports and tables. Complete period-end closing procedures and reports as specified. Prepare, review, reconcile, and issue bills, invoices, and account statements according to company procedures. Follow-up and resolve past due accounts and vendor invoices until payment in full is received or resolved. Prepare daily consolidated deposits of cash received by all cash handling employees. Document, maintain, communicate, and act upon all Cash Variances. Prepare, maintain, and administer all cashier banks and contracts.
     Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets; protect the privacy and security of guests and coworkers. Speak with others using clear and professional language; prepare and review written documents accurately and completely; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Full time Senior Staff Accountant required in USA

Location: New York, NY
Experience: 5+ years of full-time solid, progressive accounting experience.

Education Requirement

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Knowledge of fundamental US GAAP.
  • Proven ability to work with Excel. Including working experience using formulas such as SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH, IF, OR, IFERROR, pivot tables.
  • Major plus if you have experience with various system applications: Microsoft Office Suite, Google Sheets, Intacct, Bill.com, Tallie, and Expensify.

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the month end close process. Everything from bank reconciliations, to general ledger maintenance, to revenue recognition.
  • Responsible for maintenance of complex Excel schedules such as prepaids, fixed assets, and deferred revenue.  Must reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and independently resolve any reconciling items on a timely basis.
  • Assist in the monthly “Advertiser Spend” revenue recognition process and “Publisher Revenue Share” COGS recognition process. 
  • Contribute to the set up and tracking of new revenue streams and initiatives.
  • Verify discrepancies if client billing issues arise and resolve timely.
  • Assist in cash management; including managing the A/R collection activities.
  • Ensure proper coding of vendor bills to support year end 1099 issuance and issue 1099s timely to all vendors on an annual basis.
  • Assist in preparing consolidated financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger.
  • Assist with preparation of bank and investor financial reporting.
  • Assist with annual external audit and various tax regulatory examinations. Prepare assigned schedules and gather supporting documentation.
  • Maintain process documentation and look for opportunities to automate and improve daily accounting processes.
  • Support various ad hoc projects and analysis for management, including account analysis, forecasts, and budgets. 





Senior Accountant, Refining requied in USA

Position Summary:


This position works with the site Analytics team to provide financial leadership to Refining business unit in the areas of financial accounting and compliance. Administers and interprets accounting principles and corporate policies and procedures applicable to local operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manages refinery accounting close process to ensure activities are recorded accurately, on schedule and in compliance with GAAP/FASB requirements and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Prepares journal entries, accruals, and other financial transactions, maintains general ledger, and reconciles accounts to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyzes, records and maintains SAP accounting records related to transactions including variable expenses, fixed expenses, and capital expenditures to ensure accurate balance sheet, income statement and profit margin reporting.
  • Identifies and resolves discrepancies related to general accounting processes.
  • Supports process improvement and recommends ways to reduce costs or improve processes and standards.
  • Works independently on month-end closing procedures and assists team as needed.
  • May work on special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION & Experience:


  • Minimum undergraduate degree in accounting, business or related field required.
  • Minimum 4 years of accounting/finance experience.

Special Skills:


  • Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, financial statements and reports, and ledgers and journals.
  • Proficient in using accounting or related systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment and promote teamwork.
  • Ability to effectively interact with management.
  • Ability to cross-train at other assigned plants to ensure efficient coverage of department responsibilities.
  • Ability to travel.
