Full time General Accountant Required in USA, Los Angeles, CA ($23.04 - $45.54 hourly)

This is a professional accounting position requiring a basic knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices. Incumbent works under direct supervision of an Accountant II or higher position level. Work assignments include some or all of the following: compilation and maintenance of records of routine accounting transactions; assistance in preparation and/or maintenance of accounting reporting systems; preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations relative to position skills requirements; resolution of problems associated with incorrect entries, deviations from established procedures, and other inconsistencies with generally accepted accounting principles; may assist in analysis and interpretation of accounting records and reports and/or performance of administrative & clerical support duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

Required

  • Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree (with a major in accounting, business administration, economics, mathematics, or other related field), accounting certificate program, or equivalent work experience. 
  • General knowledge of web-based and online systems including integrated financial systems. 
  • General to working knowledge and skills in software applications (Office - e.g., Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; and financial - e.g., accounting ledgers/sub-ledgers and Black-line), including working knowledge of MS Excel, sufficient to create, maintain, and update financial spreadsheets, reconciliations, and ledger/sub-ledger data. 
  • Ability to work independently in a complex working environment that requires a great deal of flexibility, efficiency, quick response time and prioritizing of tasks with multiple and conflicting deadlines. 
  • Excellent communication skills and skills in interacting effectively with students, colleagues, university departments and outside agencies to clearly convey and obtain information and to explain complex systems, procedures and policies. 
  • Ability to research and analyze complex and sometimes conflicting information to resolve discrepancies and reconstruct prior actions. 
  • Ability to cope with changes to better serve the University community. 
  • Some experience combined with education that provides required knowledge and abilities. 
  • Ability to identify and deal with sensitive issues and work with confidential documents. 
  • Ability to analyze financial transactions and statistical data.

Full time General Accountant Required in USA, Marietta, GA ($20.78 - $33.24 hourly)

The position is located at Cobb County Department of Transportation – Transit Division (463 Commerce Park Drive, Marietta).

Qualification

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; supplemented by one year of experience in accounts payable and receivable or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and lift and/or move up to 10 to 20 pounds. While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is rarely exposed to disagreeable environmental factors.

Essential Duties

  • Performs accounting functions for assigned accounts; enters and posts financial data; prepares and approves journal entries; reconciles accounts; performs calculations and enters data into computer systems; researches errors and makes corrections as required; prepares tax forms; maintains financial records; and prepares and submits related reports as required.
  • Prepares and maintains comprehensive files and documentation for assigned funds and account groups, ensuring compliance with approved policies and procedures, generally accepted governmental accounting principles, and applicable regulatory standards
  • Receives and disburses funds: receives cash or financial instruments, prepares receipts, and documents the receipt of funds into appropriate database; according to area assignment, processes payments and communicates financial transactions to appropriate entities.
  • Processes a variety of accounts payable documentation according to assigned area; receives, reviews and verifies invoices, purchase orders, requests for payment, refunds, sales taxes, travel reimbursements, etc. for accuracy, completeness and proper authorization; enters data into accounting system for payment; prints, verifies, submits for signature(s); and sends payments to vendors. 
  • Processes accounts receivable documentation according to assigned area; processes and posts payments received for taxes, utilities, other services, or fees; reviews receipts, escrow accounts, and other financial reports; records and reconciles to general ledger accounts; prepares journal entries; makes corrections or adjustments as needed; prepares spreadsheets; and reviews and reconciles reports. 
  • Reconciles bank statements for various accounts according to assigned area; prepares journal entries to general ledger from bank reconciliations to reflect interest income, bank charges, or other adjustments; and contacts bank personnel to coordinate needed corrections.




Full time Accountant I/II Required in USA, Lake County, CA ($3,273 - $4,385 monthly)
